Ministry of Education Proposal: Embassies to Be Involved in the Creation of Foreign Language Textbooks
The process of creating textbooks for the subject of 'Foreign Language' used in general education programs will involve the embassies from countries where native speakers of the relevant languages reside and which have a high potential to provide linguistic, cultural, and educational content.
This was announced as part of a draft presented for public discussion by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. It is noted that involving embassies will allow for the creation of higher quality and modern content with high scientific and methodological precision.
“Although the content expertise will be conducted by a commission of the embassy, the technical specifications of the textbook must strictly comply with the legal norms of the Republic of Armenia. The implementation of technical expertise through the involvement of the National Center for Educational Technologies and its formed commission allows for maintaining state control over the final quality of the textbooks, ensuring compliance with the mandatory requirements set by the Republic of Armenia, and separating the functions of content and technical evaluation to ensure the objectivity and efficiency of the process,” the justification states.
