West and Russia's Current Relations Are Not a New Cold War: Blinken
West and Russia's current relations are not a new Cold War, as the cause of disagreements is Ukraine, not ideology. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to ТАСС.
"This is a conflict between multiple countries and Russia regarding Ukraine, and it is not related to ideology, as it was during the Cold War," he said at a conference organized by The Atlantic.
It is noteworthy that February 24 marks the one-year anniversary of the military operations initiated by Russia in Ukraine. The United States has announced that it will declare a new package of sanctions against Russia tomorrow.
"Tomorrow, not only the U.S. will announce a new package of sanctions, but also all G7 countries," stated Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.
According to Nuland, restrictions will also be imposed on Chinese companies that, according to Washington, support the Russian Federation. Furthermore, these measures will pertain to additional Russian banks involved in circumventing sanctions.
