CEC Decides Not to Revoke Accreditation from 3 Observation Missions; Meeting Lasted 10 Hours, Ioannisian

The Central Election Commission (CEC) discussed in a lengthy 10-hour meeting the issue raised by the applications of the "Independent Observer" and "Witness" missions regarding the potential revocation of accreditation for the "HaykVote", "Center for Law and Justice Tatoian Foundation", and "International Center for the Development of Parliamentarism" observation missions on the grounds of bias.

This was reported by Daniel Ioannisian, representative of the "Independent Observer" initiative and coordinator of the "Informed Citizens" NGO, on his social media page.

“As a result, the commission noted that the mentioned missions have committed questionable actions; however, it formally did not record a violation of the impartiality requirement stipulated by the Electoral Code and did not revoke these organizations’ right to observe,” stated Ioannisian.

“The ‘HaykVote’ mission agreed that those observers who made controversial statements would not go to polling stations. Some of the CEC's approaches are problematic for us, but we will discuss these issues after the elections (including clarifications on legislation). This was perhaps the longest meeting in CEC history, lasting 10 hours and 20 minutes,” he added.
