US President Can Only Meet Putin Under One Condition: Details

The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has announced that a potential new meeting between the leaders of Washington and Moscow would only occur if there is a genuine chance of helping to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Rubio emphasized that the US President is prepared to participate in a new summit with the Russian President, but only if the meeting can lead to significant progress. According to him, both parties have agreed that negotiations at such a level should have specific objectives and expected outcomes.

“Both sides understand that our presidents' next meeting must yield real results. We need to be confident that there is a genuine opportunity to achieve something positive,” he stated.

Rubio added that Washington does not wish to hold meetings “just for the sake of meeting”; in his view, such a format is meaningless if it cannot contribute to the peace process.
