Over 90 Arrested in Britain Following Riots
In Britain, over 90 people have been arrested as protests organized by far-right forces against migrants have turned into riots across various cities in the country. This was reported by the BBC, noting that new actions are also planned for Sunday.
According to the service, widespread riots occurred the day before in Hull, Liverpool, Bristol, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Blackpool, and Belfast. Participants in the demonstrations vandalized shops and attacked police officers. However, there was no violence during smaller protests.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has promised the police "full government support" in countering the "extremists attempting to sow hate." The riots that erupted are considered the most significant in the last decade. They were sparked by the crime committed by a 17-year-old migrant, who on July 29 attacked the Hart Space Studios dance studio in Southport with a knife, which is designed for children aged 6 to 11.
The attack resulted in the deaths of three girls, while another eight children were stabbed, five of whom are in serious condition. Two adults who rushed to help the children are also hospitalized with serious injuries. The assailant has been arrested and charged.
