France to Assist Palestine in Drafting Constitution

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France is ready to support the Palestinian administration in the process of drafting the future Palestinian state’s Constitution. To this end, a joint Franco-Palestinian commission is to be established.

According to Macron, a preliminary draft of the Constitution has already been prepared and was presented by Palestinian National Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas. Following their meeting in Paris, Abbas stated that the future Constitution should be based on the principles of democracy, peace, and the rule of law.
