Istanbul's Former Mayor Faces 2,352-Year Prison Sentence

The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office is demanding a 2,352-year prison sentence for former mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is accused of corruption. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced by the city's Chief Prosecutor, Akın Gürlek.

“The preliminary investigation has been completed, the indictment is ready, consisting of 3,900 pages, and there are 402 suspects involved in the criminal group led by Ekrem İmamoğlu. Of those individuals, 105 have already been arrested,” Gürlek noted.

The former mayor of Istanbul is accused of accepting bribes, money laundering, and causing significant damage to the state.
