BBC Director General Resigns Following Trump Interview Scandal
The Director General of the BBC, Tim Davie, has resigned amid a scandal related to an interview with U.S. President Donald Trump. According to British media reports, The Daily Telegraph revealed that Trump's comments during the BBC's 'Panorama' program were edited in a way that suggested he was calling for an attack on Congress.
Although Trump had actually spoken about peaceful ways to express political positions, the edited version of the program was presented in a different context, leading to widespread public and political criticism.
The BBC's leadership confirmed Davie's resignation, stating that the decision was made after internal discussions. The organization also announced plans to conduct an internal inquiry to determine how such a breach of journalistic ethics was allowed to occur.
