We Are Concerned. The US is Silent on Georgia, Kobakhidze

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has stated that Tbilisi is ready to restore its strategic partnership with the United States.

“We are somewhat concerned that the sanctions have not yet been lifted and that the US has remained somewhat silent regarding Georgia. Nevertheless, we remain optimistic; our proposal is on the table, and it pertains to the restoration of our strategic partnership,” stated Kobakhidze.

According to the Prime Minister, Georgia has a very clear position regarding relations with Washington. “I have repeatedly emphasized that we are ready to restore our strategic partnership with the US from a clean slate, based on a very clear and specific plan. We are ready to continue our cooperation,” he said.

Kobakhidze recalled that previously, the US leadership had been “quite aggressive towards the Georgian people and government,” while the Biden administration halted the strategic partnership following Trump's election. “It is in our interest to restore the strategic partnership with the US, and we patiently await their position. Yes, we are somewhat anxious, but we remain optimistic,” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
