Thousands of Flights Canceled in the U.S.
Ofelya
Thousands of flights in the U.S. have been canceled or delayed due to the federal government shutdown, reports BBC. Earlier, the outlet reported that the federal government has halted operations for the first time in six years due to the Senate's failure to pass the budget proposal for the fiscal year.
During the shutdown, most government agencies cease their activities. Some federal employees are placed on unpaid leave, while others continue to work without pay.
Republicans and Democrats are mutually blaming each other, noting that approval of the bill required support from 60 out of 100 senators.
