Father Ruben summoned for questioning by the Investigation Committee: details
Father Ruben Zargaryan, the head of the conceptual office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, is unaware of the reasons why he was summoned today by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. He made this statement during a conversation with reporters before entering the Committee's building.
It was previously reported that more than eight clergymen from the Mother See and the Aragatsotn Diocese have been summoned to the Committee regarding a recording attributed to Bishop Nathan. They are currently being questioned as witnesses.
Father Ruben noted that his name was not mentioned in the recording and he has never urged any priest to participate in opposition protests. “I do not work directly with Bishop Nathan. I have served in penitentiaries for 15 years as the head of spiritual services. Our department deals solely with issues related to the Church's position, and we have no other functions,” he emphasized.
Father Ruben's lawyer, Marine Farmeran, stated that the reason for the questioning is related to the ongoing investigation into the facts concerning the recording attributed to Bishop Nathan.
It is worth mentioning that earlier reports indicated that over eight clergymen have been summoned to the Investigative Committee.
