Internet Access in Russia to Require Passport Verification
Experts estimate that the Russian authorities may implement a system in the coming years that will allow internet access only after identification. Users would be required to log in to the network through the 'Госуслуги' portal, confirming their identity through the state database.
This change will necessitate a complete restructuring of social networks, video hosting platforms, and thousands of websites to ensure verified access. As a result, a unified information database will be created, enabling tracking of who is viewing what content.
Many specialists express concern that this initiative could end the concept of anonymity on the internet and lead to increased control over personal data.
