Baku's Decision to Abandon Russian Equipment Receives Widespread Response

Ilham Aliyev has announced that the country's army will transition to a system in accordance with NATO standards. This move, according to the authorities, is aimed at modernizing the army and expanding international cooperation.

However, such a decision has sparked active discussions in the region. Military experts note that this initiative could impact the balance of power forming in the South Caucasus. In their view, Azerbaijan's military system's approach to NATO's model may alter the format of cooperation not only with the alliance but also with Russia.

Experts estimate that the Caspian Sea region, traditionally considered a zone of stability, will face new geopolitical challenges. Additionally, the question arises about the fate of the former Soviet military equipment and the extent to which NATO may be interested in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan.
