Russia May Begin Preparations for Nuclear Tests

The Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has proposed to urgently start preparatory work for nuclear testing. According to him, the technical condition of the shooting range in New Earth allows for such tests to be conducted in a short period of time. Belousov made this announcement during a meeting with members of the Security Council of the Russian President.

The minister noted that the United States has developed plans for a preventive nuclear strike against Russia during exercises carried out in October and continues to modernize its strategic offensive weapons. According to him, the new Dark Eagle missiles, which are planned to be deployed in Europe, could reach Central Russia in just six to seven minutes.

Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, for his part, has addressed President Vladimir Putin, requesting some time for special services to assess the potential intentions of the U.S. to conduct nuclear tests and their consequences.
