Businessman Stepan Samvelyan Released from Custody

Businessman Stepan Samvelyan has been released from custody, where he was charged with attempting to assassinate Aram Sargsyan, leader of the Republic party. His lawyer, Zaruhi Postanjyan, reported that the measure of restraint imposed was a signed commitment not to leave.

According to the Investigative Committee's announcement, evidence has been collected indicating that Samvelyan (S.S.) planned to kill Sargsyan (A.S.) in July 2025. S.S. is facing public criminal prosecution under part 1 of Article 43-155 of the Criminal Code (preparation for murder) and part 1 of Article 335 (illegal circulation of firearms, their main components, military ammunition, and other materials or devices).

As a measure of restraint, pretrial detention was applied to him.
