We Are Ready to Ensure Truck Transit from Turkey to Azerbaijan Today, Says Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that following the agreements made in Washington, processes that were previously inaccessible between the two EAEU member states have now become possible.

Pashinyan noted that many believe that the process of unblocking communication routes contradicts the interests of the EAEU, but in reality, it has created new opportunities. He recalled the statement from the President of Azerbaijan regarding the opening of communication routes for goods imported into Armenia, using the example of grain imports from Kazakhstan to Armenia.

According to Pashinyan, one of the main beneficiaries of the program will also be the countries of Central Asia. The Prime Minister emphasized that following the Azerbaijani president’s announcement on the removal of transit restrictions, Armenia is ready to ensure the transit of trucks from Turkey via Margara and Khndzoresk to Azerbaijan and vice versa today, marking it as the only prepared route.

He added that the declaration made in Washington states that Armenia and Azerbaijan have an agenda for unblocking communication routes, including railways, for each other. Pashinyan mentioned that there is no political issue at the level of ensuring rail connectivity between mainland Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, but it is still not possible since the corresponding railway needs to be constructed. He noted that active negotiations with the United States are underway in this regard.
