US Proposes Deployment of International Forces in Gaza to UN

The United States has presented a draft resolution to the UN Security Council proposing the deployment of international troops in the Gaza Strip for a minimum of two years. According to Axios, which referenced the draft document, the initiative would grant the US and several other countries wide-ranging powers until the end of 2027, aimed at managing Gaza and ensuring security, with the possibility of further extensions.

According to the document, international forces would be responsible for ensuring the security of Gaza's borders, both towards Israel and Egypt. Their main mission would be to protect the civilian population and humanitarian corridors, prepare a new Palestinian police force, and demilitarize the enclave by preventing the disarmament of armed groups and the restoration of military infrastructure.

American sources indicate that Washington aims to achieve a vote on the resolution in the Security Council in the coming weeks, so that the deployment of international forces and the implementation of the mandate can begin as early as January 2026.
