Young Man Who Burned Khamenei's Effigy Found Dead in Iran
A young man named Omid Sarlak has been found dead in the city of Aligudarz, Lorestan province, Iran. He had recently published a video in which he burned an effigy of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
The Iranian police have declared that Sarlak committed suicide. However, his family and human rights advocates are questioning this version, labeling the incident as a "state murder." According to relatives, the authorities have refused to return the young man's body, simultaneously attempting to pressure the family to publicly endorse the suicide narrative.
Witnesses reported that during Omid Sarlak's funeral, attendees chanted slogans such as "Death to the Dictator." This incident has once again raised concerns regarding political persecution and restrictions on free expression in Iran.
