Obama Criticizes Trump Administration Again
Former U.S. President Barack Obama spoke at campaign rallies in Virginia and New Jersey on Saturday, defending the Democratic candidates for governor. He urged voters to reject what he termed the "illegality and recklessness" of Donald Trump's administration, according to Reuters.
At a rally in Norfolk, Virginia, Obama supported gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger, while in Newark, New Jersey, he backed Mikie Sherrill. In his speeches, Obama harshly criticized Trump's "chaotic" trade policies, the deployment of National Guard troops in American cities, and congressional Republicans for their inability to rein in Trump.
"Our country is in a complicated situation right now. Every day, the White House serves up a new dose of illegality, recklessness, and insanity," Obama stated.
He also expressed surprise at how quickly the business and academic sectors have "gone to their knees" in an effort not to offend Trump. At the New Jersey rally, the former president added, "Every day feels like Halloween, except there are only tricks here, no treats."
According to recent polls, both Spanberger and Sherrill have significant leads over their Republican opponents.
