Hajiyev Does Not Expect Aliyev's Participation in the Upcoming Summit in Yerevan

Hikmet Hajiyev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, does not consider it possible for President Ilham Aliyev to participate in the 8th summit of the European Political Community to be held in Yerevan. This information was reported by Azerbaijani media.

“First of all, we have not yet received an official invitation letter for the Azerbaijani president's participation in the summit in Yerevan. Secondly, under the current circumstances, we do not believe that Azerbaijan's participation at the highest level in this event will be possible,” he stated.

It is worth noting that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced that Armenian authorities have invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to participate in the European Political Community summit scheduled for May 2026 in Yerevan. An Azerbaijani state media outlet, citing diplomatic sources, noted that the current level of bilateral relations does not yet allow for President Aliyev's visit to Yerevan to be considered a feasible step.
