Powers of the Community Head of Byureghavan Suspended, He Learned About It from the Media
The Anti-Corruption Committee has charged the head of the Byureghavan community, Hakob Balasanyan, with abuse of official powers in nine instances. According to the investigative body, the case pertains to the illegal alienation of community lands through formal auctions.
A travel ban has been imposed as a preventive measure against him, and his right to hold office has been suspended. Balasanyan responded on Facebook, stating that he learned about the suspension of his powers from media reports. “I was not informed in any way about this, which could have led to a situation where the head of the community would make decisions with suspended powers,” he wrote.
Balasanyan emphasized that the charges against him are baseless and declared that he does not accept them. According to him, the case was initiated two years ago, during which hundreds of citizens have been interrogated. “The court will decide whether I am guilty or not. Everyone in our community knows who is who by their actions,” he added.
