Anahit Avanesyan on Differences in Faith with Her Husband

The Minister of Health, Anahit Avanesyan, has assured that she was baptized in the Church of Saint Zoravor and is a follower of the Armenian Apostolic Church, responding to reports that she participated in a service led by a defrocked priest.

“Where do the authors of the publications know that I am not a follower of the Holy Apostolic Church? I am baptized; I was baptized in the Church of Saint Zoravor and I am a follower of the Armenian Apostolic Church,” Avanesyan said during a conversation with journalists.

She also addressed remarks regarding her husband being a follower of the Evangelical Church, stating, “My husband is Evangelical, but that has no bearing. There is no conflict in our relationship; we live with love and peace, and we have three children.”

Avanesyan added that she plans to visit Hovhannavank this coming Sunday. “I am going because I understand that the community cannot be left alone in the face of injustice,” she said.
