35 Buses to Be Acquired for Transportation of Schoolchildren in Regions

The government has made a decision to acquire transportation vehicles for the purpose of transporting schoolchildren in the regions, through a two-stage tender organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, based on the second paragraph of the sixth part of Article 15 of the Law on Procurement.

The qualification criteria and the documents submitted for their evaluation, provided by the participating parties in the pre-qualification procedure, as well as the terms of the contract and qualification assurances for the selected participant will be determined by the procurement application. Currently, around 205 settlements are subject to unification in the Republic, which are linked to 101 centers, with a total of about 6200 schoolchildren in 187 settlements. The average distance from settlements to the center is 7 km (with a minimum distance of 1.5 km and a maximum of 24 km).

By January 2027, approximately 81 newly constructed schools, as well as renovated schools are scheduled for operation. Based on this and considering the centralized organization of transportation of schoolchildren from settlements to central schools and vice versa, it has been decided to acquire about 35 transportation vehicles in the first phase, with further phases determining and completing the necessary number of vehicles.

As a result, the safe and centralized transportation of schoolchildren to schools will be ensured, which will increase the accessibility of education, especially for children from border and hard-to-reach areas, and will also contribute to the resolution of democratic and social issues.

A draft decision is presented to the Government of the Republic of Armenia concerning the acquisition of specially equipped transportation vehicles with up to 35 seats for the transportation of students from the settlements to the central schools in the regions, considering that the procurement will be organized in two phases based on the second and third points of the first part of Article 19 and the second paragraph of the sixth part of Article 15 of the RA Law on Procurement.
