Charges Filed Against Head of Byureghavan Community; Termination of Office Suspended

The Anti-Corruption Committee has responded to a query from NEWS.am, stating that charges have been filed against the head of Byureghavan community, Hakob Balasyan, for abuse of official authority in nine instances (under part 1 of Article 308 of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia). The criminal case pertains to the illegal transfer of land through sham auctions.

The Committee has also informed that measures have been imposed on the community leader, including a prohibition on leaving the country and the suspension of his term in office. According to reports, the head of the community's term has indeed been suspended.
