The ‘Gyumri 2’ Variant is Excluded in Vagharshapat: David Khudatyan

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, David Khudatyan, announced that the Civil Contract party, led by Argishti Mekhakyan, is participating in the upcoming elections with the aim of securing an absolute majority—50 percent plus one vote.

In a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly, Khudatyan stated that their party does not plan to repeat the ‘Gyumri 2’ scenario in Vagharshapat, emphasizing that power should be formed through voter trust.

The minister reminded that since 2018, the Civil Contract team has consistently won various levels of elections in Vagharshapat and Hoy. According to him, many of those victories were registered under the leadership of Argishti Mekhakyan: “In 2018, Mr. Mekhakyan received the highest number of votes in the Armavir region and was subsequently elected as the community leader of Hoy with an absolute majority.”

Khudatyan added that the opposition has lost several times in previous elections, both in Vagharshapat and Hoy: “They have already lost several elections—in 2018, in 2021, and later as well. In Vagharshapat, one could say that the opposition is the Olympic champion of defeats.”

He stated that Argishti Mekhakyan has earned the trust of the citizens, which enhances the possibilities for the Civil Contract party in the upcoming elections.
