If the proceedings are terminated, the interim manager of the electricity company will go home: Mesropyan
The administrative proceedings initiated by the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) against Armenia's Electricity Networks (HET) may have several outcomes: a warning, a fine, revocation of the license, or termination of the proceedings. This was stated today by PSRC Chairman Mesrop Mesropyan during a press briefing in the National Assembly.
According to him, the conclusion of the proceedings is scheduled for November 18.
“If the proceedings conclude with the revocation of the license, then the interim manager Romanos Petrosyan will continue to stay until the government has completed negotiations with the owners of HET. If the proceedings are terminated, then the interim manager will go home or find another job, and the HET owners will continue to manage the company,” said the PSRC chairman.
It should be noted that the PSRC appointed Romanos Petrosyan as the interim manager of HET on July 18, based on a government report and initiated administrative proceedings against the company.
Mesropyan emphasized that he does not allow himself to comment on the details of the proceedings, but stressed that Petrosyan, as the interim manager, is authorized to make statements within the scope of his functions.
The PSRC head also responded to criticisms claiming that the commission has lost its independence and acts under government directives. “This is an absolutely incorrect observation. When we discussed the investment programs of HET for 2025, the proceedings had not yet been initiated. We rejected the proposals solely for objective technical reasons,” emphasized Mesropyan.
Recall that on July 3, the National Assembly adopted in the second reading a package of amendments to the laws on the Public Services Regulatory Authority and Energy, known as the project for the nationalization of HET.
