Europe Hinders Ukraine's Peace Settlement, Says Russian Foreign Ministry
The United States has faced resistance from European countries regarding the resolution of the Ukraine conflict. This was stated by Konstantin Vorontsov, Deputy Director of the Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a meeting of the UN General Assembly's First Committee.
According to him, the U.S. finds itself confronting "European sabotage" as several EU nations are obstructing attempts at a peaceful resolution. "We are being accused of a desire to cease the conflict; however, it is Europe that is doing everything to prolong it," Vorontsov noted.
The Russian diplomat added that such an approach not only harms Ukraine but also undermines the security interests of Europe as a whole, deepening the crisis and reducing the likelihood of a negotiated solution.
