Armenia Ready to Open Border with Turkey at Any Time, Says Security Council Secretary

Armenia is ready to open its border with Turkey and normalize relations at any time. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, in a conversation with journalists.

“Armenia is prepared to open the border and normalize relations at any time. There has been an agreement regarding the opening of the land border for citizens of third countries visiting Armenia and Turkey. The Armenian and Turkish sides are conducting discussions, and we will continue our work in that direction, hoping that it will happen as soon as possible,” Grigoryan said.

On July 1, 2022, special representatives for the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan and Ambassador Serdar Kilic, agreed during a meeting in Vienna to ensure the possibility of crossing the Armenia-Turkey land border as soon as possible for citizens of third countries visiting Armenia and Turkey, and decided to initiate the necessary processes in that direction.

They also agreed to start direct air cargo transportation between Armenia and Turkey as soon as possible and decided to commence the necessary processes in that area. Later, Turkey lifted the ban on direct air cargo transportation with Armenia.
