100 Observers Arriving in Armenia Today, Including 8 Gendarmes and 15 German Police

Nearly 100 observers from EU countries are arriving in Armenia today, including 8 officers from the French gendarmerie (who are under dual command of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense) and 15 German police officers.

They will be deployed in areas of Armenia adjacent to the border with Azerbaijan. This will be the second and larger EU monitoring mission.

The first group, consisting of 40 members, was in Armenia from October 19 to December 19, based on the agreements from the European Political Community summit in Prague in October.

The decision to send the second mission was adopted by the European Commission on January 23, 2023.
