The October 27 Case Must Be Fully Uncovered: Andranik Kocharyan

The Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense Committee has noted that there are still witnesses who have not yet been interrogated, and their testimonies could be decisive.

Andranik Kocharyan, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, emphasized during a conversation with reporters at Yerablur on the 26th anniversary of the October 27 tragedy that it is still possible to fully uncover the case. “We have always believed that the events of October 27 should have been revealed the day before. Hrant Matevosyan said that the October 27 case should have been uncovered on October 28,” Kocharyan stated. “I believe there is still an opportunity to achieve full disclosure,” he added.

According to him, there are important witnesses who are currently outside of Armenia and have not been interrogated, but their testimonies could be crucial. “We have tremendous work to do regarding the revelation of October 27. The Prosecutor General promised that uncovering the case should become a matter of honor for all of us,” Andranik Kocharyan further stated.

It is worth mentioning that today marks the 26th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the National Assembly on October 27, 1999, which resulted in the deaths of Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, National Assembly President Karen Demirchyan, and other public officials.
