Armenia Is Charged with Ensuring Citizens' Security and Well-Being – Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized in the National Assembly that the peace agenda must be built on the ideology of statehood.
During a joint session of the permanent committees of the National Assembly, in the preliminary discussion of the 2026 state budget, Pashinyan stated that the core of the logic of peace should be the ideology of statehood. According to the Prime Minister, the main function of the state is to ensure the security, well-being, and happiness of the citizens of Armenia.
Pashinyan noted that the ideology of “Real Armenia” clarifies the state's purpose: the Republic of Armenia is self-sufficient with its internationally recognized territory and cannot be a support point for another state. “All our strategies, including security and defense, fall within this logic,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the development of the army should proceed on the basis of a “defensible army” concept, rather than simply a “combat-ready army.” He stated that the mission of the Armenian Army is to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country within the framework of obligations established by international law.
“It is important for us to emphasize that the Armenian Army has no problems to solve outside the internationally recognized territory of Armenia. Its main mission is to ensure the security of its own citizens,” Pashinyan noted.
