Avinyan on the Investment Program to Address the Drainage Issues in Sari Tagh

During a meeting with the people of Sari Tagh, I stated that it is definitely possible to implement an investment program there. This is a problem worth $30 million. In fact, I am very cautious about everything I say and promises I make.

This was announced by the Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, during the Yerevan City Council session on October 23, responding to a remark from Arshak Sargsyan, a member of the 'Mother Armenia' faction of the Council, who noted that during the election campaign, Avinyan had promised residents of Sari Tagh to resolve drainage issues, but in reality, this falls under the Government's jurisdiction.

The opposition council member asked why Avinyan had promised to perform governmental functions during the campaign. Avinyan replied that he had not mentioned the name of the city hall or the government but had outlined his approach to solving the problem.

“The only path I saw back then, and still see now, is to resolve the issue through an investment program. I did not mention either the city hall or the government, meaning that a new program should be implemented with a community-oriented logic, which will create opportunities for investment. As for smaller drainage issues in Sari Tagh, we solved some at that time as well, and we continue to tackle them now,” Avinyan stated.
