NATO's Policy Leads to Nuclear War, According to Russia's Foreign Ministry
The hostility between NATO member states could lead to confrontations between nuclear powers, stated Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, according to TASS.
“Among the corresponding negative factors, we especially emphasize the hostile policies of NATO countries, which could lead to direct confrontations between nuclear powers,” he said during a meeting dedicated to nuclear policy at the Center for Energy and Security.
The diplomat pointed out that this relates to the alliance's development of joint nuclear missions, particularly the expansion of the U.S. nuclear presence in Europe.
Ryabkov also noted threats such as the development of the U.S. global missile defense system, the deployment of various long-range missiles, the U.S. program for deploying weapons in space, and the construction of defensive domes in other countries. Taken together, all these factors compel other nations, including Russia, to undertake appropriate military actions, he concluded.
During the meeting, the deputy foreign minister also stated that Russia will not allow itself to be drawn into an expensive arms race, but Moscow has all the necessary resources to ensure the country's security.
