David Tonoyan's Trial is Among the Most Publicized and Should Be Open, Abrahamyan

The Secretary of the Parliamentary ‘I Have Honor’ faction, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote on his Facebook page that David Tonoyan, who was the Minister of Defense during the 44-day war and was in detention for about three years until recently, urged the media to conduct the trial in an open format, partly under their pressure.

Although this particular case, which also involves a group of senior military officials alongside Tonoyan, is not closely related to the 44-day war and is labeled as the 'missile case', I also support that the trial should be held openly.

It is clear that certain components of the case have confidential nature, but the closed format should only apply to secret elements and not the entirety of the trial.

This trial is among the most publicized ones, and the authorities have done everything to present it as an 'unprecedented' transparency; however, they have limited publicity due to intent to 'reveal' under their political priorities.

Furthermore, I assert that another very significant trial should also be conducted in an open format. I am referring to the case of former Chief of the Defense Army, Lieutenant General Mikael Arzumanyan. He has been in detention for over 1.5 years, and a significant number of servicemen from the Defense Army are also involved in this case. Arzumanyan himself is calling for an open trial, but the authorities refuse for understandable reasons.
