Russia Responds to Azerbaijan's Decision to Join BRICS

Russia welcomes Azerbaijan's decision to join BRICS, stated Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.

In an interview with Lenta.ru, he responded to Baku's application for membership in the organization. "We welcome our brotherly Azerbaijan's desire to participate fully as a member of BRICS. We will continue to support this process; however, a clear mechanism for admitting new members to BRICS has not yet been developed. But I believe this will happen in the coming years," said the senator.
