Electronic Employment Contracts Will Become Mandatory from 2026: Torosyan
Electronic employment contracts, which will become mandatory starting in 2026, should protect the rights of underage workers, said Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly, responding to a question from MP Armenuhi Ghazaryan of the "Civil Contract" faction.
The MP noted that a significant number of minors are currently employed in the trade and services sector, yet many of them work unregistered.
Torosyan reminded that the system of electronic employment contracts has already been implemented in Armenia, and currently, it is voluntary. However, it will become mandatory as of January 1, 2026. This will make it easier for the Labor and Health Inspectorates to verify working conditions.
“Nevertheless, it is important that violations of the labor rights of minors are addressed not only by the inspectorates, but by all of us. If we witness such incidents, we must report them,” stated the minister.
It is noteworthy that, according to the Labor Code of Armenia, individuals aged 14-16 may work no more than 24 hours per week, and those aged 16-18 may work no more than 36 hours per week.
