Turkish Nationalist Leader Calls for Reunification of Turkey and Northern Cyprus

The president of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has emphasized that low voter turnout cannot reflect the will of the people. "The fate of Turkish Cypriots cannot be represented at this level of participation. Even if the election results are announced by the Electoral Commission, the Parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus must be convened immediately, declare the election results and return unacceptable, and decide to unite with the Republic of Turkey," stated Devlet Bahçeli.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the leader of the Republican Turkish Party, Tufan Erhürman, on his victory in the presidential elections of the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). It should be noted that presidential elections were held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
