Russian Foreign Ministry: Circumstances That Could Have Prevented Strike on Gaza Hospital

If the UN Security Council had adopted the Russian proposal for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on October 16, the strike on the 'Al Ahli' hospital could have been avoided, the Russian Foreign Ministry has stated. This comment was published on the ministry's website.

According to the ministry, 'It was possible to avoid the missile strike. The veto by the United States on the draft resolution of the UN Security Council clearly demonstrated Washington's true ambitions in the region.'

The Russian Foreign Ministry's statement also indicated that the proposed resolution could help halt the escalation of tensions and curb violence against the peaceful populations of Palestine and Israel. 'It is the failed US policy in the Palestinian-Israeli direction that has provoked the current catastrophic escalation,' the ministry concluded.

It is worth recalling that on October 17, a missile strike targeted a hospital in Gaza. Palestinian officials have accused Israel of carrying out the attack, while the Israeli side has blamed the Palestinian Islamic Jihad for the situation.
