Israel Denies Ceasefire News for Southern Gaza

Israel is reportedly denying the news of a humanitarian ceasefire for southern Gaza. This is reported by the BBC.

According to the source, the Israeli Prime Minister's office denied the ceasefire news for southern Gaza half an hour after Egyptian security sources told Reuters that an agreement had been reached regarding a ceasefire coinciding with the reopening of the ‘Rafah’ crossing.

The statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office reads: “Currently, there is no ceasefire or humanitarian aid in Gaza in exchange for the exit of foreigners.”

Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht told BBC that he is not aware of any ceasefire in southern Gaza: “There is no agreed ceasefire that I am aware of. I also see all these reports and confirm nothing.”

It should be noted that today, RIA Novosti, referencing i24 television, reported that the anticipated humanitarian ceasefire by Israel for southern Gaza would begin at 10:00 AM and last for five hours. During this time, some residents of Gaza would be allowed to leave for Egypt through the ‘Rafah’ crossing, and humanitarian aid would be permitted entry.
