New Law Signed Regarding Armenian Citizens Staying in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a law on the ratification of the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Armenia regarding the movement and stay of citizens. This was announced by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

Earlier, the Parliament of Kazakhstan ratified two agreements between Kazakhstan and Armenia concerning cooperation in the field of migration and the stay of citizens in each other's territories.

According to the agreement, Kazakh citizens will be able to visit Armenia with their identification documents. Similarly, Armenian citizens will be able to stay in Kazakhstan with their identification documents.

Kazakhs will also be able to remain in the other country for up to 90 days within a six-month period. After staying for 30 days, citizens from either side must register temporarily. This will enable the monitoring of migration processes.

Furthermore, the requirement to obtain a visa after the 90-day stay is abolished. Citizens can now apply for a temporary residence permit at the Citizen Service Centers after 90 days. These temporary residence permits will be issued free of charge, whereas previously this visa required a fee. Additionally, the processing time for this visa, which used to take 30 calendar days, will now be reduced to one working day.
