Closure of the 'Prison Hospital' Correctional Facility Announced

The operation of the 'Prison Hospital' correctional facility will be discontinued. This decision was made during the Armenian government's meeting on non-reportable issues.

According to the justification, the 'Prison Hospital' does not meet the modern requirements expected of medical institutions, a fact that has been repeatedly stated by both international and local bodies.

The treatment process for inmates and detainees will be organized at the newly established branch of the Ministry of Health’s 'Penitentiary Medical Center' in Armavir Correctional Facility, while treatment for individuals with mental health issues will be provided at the 'National Center for Mental Health Preservation' professional center.
