Why Hovik Aghazaryan Is Not Joining the Impeachment Process
The "Iravunk" newspaper writes: "Why is independent MP Hovik Aghazaryan and his colleague Hakob Aslanyan not joining the impeachment process? Hovik Aghazaryan answers this question: 'When the initiative to file an impeachment against the Prime Minister began, neither 'Honorary Title' nor the 'Armenia' alliance joined the initiative, while Aslanyan and I supported it. Only after a certain period did they join the initiative. Now, the question arises as to why they did not join back then, because they believed that Marukyan does not differ from Pashinyan. Moreover, they claimed that Aghazaryan and Aslanyan are part of his project. We also have our concerns that if all elections were rigged during their time in power, they probably want to take over the power now, not to remove Pashinyan.' How do we resolve this contradiction? That's why we suggested joining our candidate and discussing all the prerequisites so that their concerns are alleviated. We propose to create a balanced government for merely 6 months so that no one can pull the political blanket over themselves. Pashinyan would also have a 6-month break, and we would all head to elections. Let's create a situation where we can go to just, transparent elections. However, if we give the government to a political force, especially one with a controversial history, what will the consequences be? Therefore, we ask them to join our initiative so we can understand and discuss all the prerequisites.' According to the MP: 'I need to know clearly whether we are removing Pashinyan through impeachment to ensure a fairer and cleaner political arena for the 2026 elections, or are we removing Pashinyan to hand over power to the Republican Party. I do not dream of giving power to the Republican Party.'
