Rutte Explains Why NATO Does Not Strike Russian Aircraft Crossing Alliance Airspace

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has explained why NATO does not strike Russian aircraft crossing the alliance's airspace.
“As long as they do not pose a threat, we are simply cautiously escorting them out of our airspace. This is a proportional response; after all, we are much stronger than the Russians. If we were weaker, we could open fire immediately, but because we are stronger, we respond proportionally,” said the alliance's Secretary General during a session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Slovenia.
