Jalal Harutyunyan's Sentencing Order Has Disappeared from Court, He Remains Free

The sentencing order for Jalal Harutyunyan, the former commander of the Defense Army, has disappeared after leaving the court, allowing him to remain free. This was reported by 'Pastinfo'.

The Syunik regional court, presided over by Judge Garik Abelyan, found Jalal Harutyunyan guilty on January 15, under Article 550, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, sentencing him to 5.5 years in prison. The Court of Appeal, under the leadership of Judge Mkhitar Papoyan, upheld the conviction on June 18, alongside judges Robert Papoyan and Lusine Abgaryan.

The defense filed a cassation appeal twice; the first was returned for corrections, giving the defense time to fix the errors and submit a new appeal. The second appeal was not accepted for examination. Accordingly, the conviction entered legal force on September 26. However, Jalal Harutyunyan has yet to be transferred to a penitentiary.

Simultaneously, court officials assert that the order was sent on October 7. However, it appears that the order has gone missing after leaving the court and has not reached the police. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed that they have not received any such order as of this moment.
