Putin 'Flattering' Trump: Moscow's True Objective Regarding the US, Reuters
Moscow employs a dual strategy of praise and warnings, attempting to restore lost relations with Washington following diplomatic failures, reports Reuters.
According to the agency, there is currently no planned meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, and the United States, which has been without an ambassador in Moscow since June, has not submitted a nomination for a successor.
In turn, Trump has stated that Ukraine can reclaim its lost territories, while labeling Russia as a 'paper tiger.' The Kremlin has chosen not to respond to this statement.
Against this backdrop, Moscow has adopted a 'good cop, bad cop' tactic; some Russian officials threaten harsh responses to the US, while others emphasize common values and call for dialogue.
