Hungary's Rossi: Armenians Have Four to Five Top-Class Players, but We Know How to Stop Them

In the third round of the European qualifier for the 2026 World Cup, the Armenian national team will host Hungary at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest. This was reported by ArmSport.am.

During the pre-match press conference, Hungary's head coach Marco Rossi answered journalists' questions.

"There are games in the qualifiers that can be difficult because we must win them to achieve our goals. The match against Armenia is one of those. We are not thinking about the two matches from September; we are focusing solely on the upcoming games. I have yet to make decisions on a few things, but I need to determine them soon as well.

"Armenians have four or five players who stand out from the others, but we know how to stop them. They are of extremely high quality, but that doesn't mean we should focus solely on them. Two of our three most dangerous players are unavailable. This is certainly not good. Only Dominik Szoboszlai may be on the field out of the three footballers, while Roland Sallai and Barnabás Varga will not. Sallai is not a forward; he is more wing-oriented, but he is still an extremely dangerous player. The same can be said about Szoboszlai; he is always aimed at the opponent's goal. Undoubtedly, the absence of both players will be felt on Saturday. It would have been great if they were available for us, but this cannot be an excuse.

We need to create situations; if we don't score in the first one or two opportunities, we must not lose our heads. We should dictate the rhythm and not rush. Patience could be significant on Saturday; it's essential not to get nervous. We are tactically prepared, but it's possible that things on the field may not go as planned. We are ready for the clash; we have done our work, and if the players follow the instructions, we will succeed. We are qualitatively better than our opponents," Rossi stated during the pre-match press conference.

The Hungary vs. Armenia match in Group F of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup will take place on October 10 at 20:00 Yerevan time.
