European Parliament Calls for Use of Frozen Russian Assets for Ukraine

The European Parliament has urged the EU to utilize all frozen Russian assets as a basis for providing loans to Ukraine, according to a resolution published on the European Parliament's website.

"The European Parliament reaffirms its call for EU member states, together with their G7 partners, to immediately endorse the European Commission's proposal to use all frozen Russian assets as the basis for significant grants and loans to Ukraine, the repayment of which is contingent on future payments of war reparations by Russia," the resolution states.

Yesterday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova declared that the EU's idea of Russia providing compensation to Ukraine is divorced from reality, and that Brussels has long been engaged in the theft of our assets.
