EU Warns of Hybrid Warfare
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has stated that the recent incursions of drones and other violations of airspace are part of a targeted hybrid campaign against the EU.
"These are not random violations," she said, but rather "a deliberate and escalating campaign designed to disturb our citizens, test our resolve, divide our Union, and weaken our support for Ukraine." Additionally, von der Leyen stated, "It is time to call this what it is. This is hybrid warfare."
Incidents such as the appearance of drones at Munich Airport and the Erding military base, as well as incidents in Poland, Estonia, and other countries, have heightened concerns regarding European security. The EU is responding comprehensively by building "drone walls," strengthening its defense industrial base, and developing new regulations for airspace control and the application of sanctions.
