UN Issues Statement: Nine Employees Arrested in Yemen

Representatives of the Houthi movement, which governs northern Yemen, have arrested nine more United Nations employees, according to UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric.
“The Houthis have detained nine more UN staff, bringing the total number of UN employees unlawfully arrested since 2021 to 53,” the spokesperson stated, without mentioning the dates of the arrests.
Dujarric also noted that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemns the incident and calls for the immediate release of all detained staff members.
