The Expression 'Zangezur Corridor' Cannot Refer to Armenian Territory: Prime Minister's Spokesperson
During the meeting between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, held in Copenhagen on October 2, the issue of the usage of the term 'Zangezur Corridor' was discussed. Armenia reaffirms that this rhetoric from the President of Azerbaijan can in no way pertain to the territory of the Republic of Armenia. This was reported by the spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, in response to a written inquiry from Armenpress.
- The President of Azerbaijan, during his speech at the meeting of the Turkic States Organization held in Gabala, again used the term 'Zangezur Corridor.' What is your response, and was this topic discussed during the Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting in Copenhagen?
- According to the press release distributed by both parties following the meeting, it is clear that both sides acknowledge that the TRIPP project is related to the territory of Armenia; thus, there is and cannot be any other project on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
The issue was indeed discussed during the meeting in Copenhagen, and we reiterate that this rhetoric from the President of Azerbaijan cannot pertain to the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Only the TRIPP and the 'Peace Crossroad' projects are being implemented in the Republic of Armenia, as clearly stated in several international documents.
